Apple has stopped signing iOS 18.6.2, making it impossible for users to downgrade from iOS 26. While iOS 18.7 is still being signed, there are no IPSW files available for devices that have updated to iOS 26 — meaning those users have no downgrade path.
Apple has officially ceased signing iOS 18.6.2, a move that means downgrading from iOS 26 is now sealed off for users. This change was confirmed one week after Apple released iOS 26.
While iOS 18.7 remains signed by Apple, it doesn’t help those already on iOS 26: there are no IPSW files available for devices that updated to iOS 26, which effectively prevents any reversal.
Signing older iOS versions is a process that validates installations and helps users revert if they encounter issues. Once Apple stops signing a given version, it typically reflects that older versions contain bugs or security flaws addressed in later releases.
