The upcoming iPhone 17 Slim is rumored to showcase a fresh design along with a 6.6-inch display, according to recent claims from analysts as speculation about this slimline smartphone continues to grow. Set to be released alongside other iPhone 17 models in late 2025, the iPhone 17 Slim is anticipated to be a thinner addition to Apple’s lineup.
Jeff Pu of Haitong International has shared a research note outlining several previously rumored features of the new model. Notably, the 6.6-inch display is expected to replace the Plus variant within the iPhone range.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Slim is projected to be powered by an A19 chip, leveraging TSMC’s 3-nanometer process technology that was also used for the A18 Pro chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. The device is expected to come with 8GB of memory, falling short of the 12GB available in Pro models, as suggested by Pu in May.
In terms of materials, Pu indicates that the slimline model will be constructed from aluminum, providing a lighter alternative to the titanium used in Pro models. However, Apple will need to ensure that the device maintains structural integrity to avoid any potential bending issues.
The camera setup is expected to feature a single 48-megapixel rear sensor, while the front will include Face ID support along with a 24-megapixel camera.
Pu also notes that the iPhone 17 Slim will sport a completely new design compared to its predecessors. While he is noted for circulating numerous Apple rumors, his track record for accuracy regarding release timelines has been inconsistent. Nevertheless, his insights this time appear to align with other circulating rumors and commentary about the device.
