AirPods Pro 3 Receive First Official Firmware Update Before Launch

Just ahead of its release, Apple has pushed firmware version 8A357 to AirPods Pro 3, following 8A356. While it brings no obvious changes, it likely fixes bugs. Here’s how to get the update once your AirPods are in hand.

First Firmware Update for AirPods Pro 3

Apple has issued a firmware update for the newly announced AirPods Pro 3. The previous firmware build was 8A356; the new version is 8A357, released just ahead of the product’s official launch.

It’s expected that the update doesn’t introduce visible new features for users, but it likely addresses minor bugs discovered in 8A356.

How to Install Firmware 8A357

If you want the update as soon as possible, Apple recommends the following steps:

  1. Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is running the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, and that Bluetooth is turned on.

  2. Ensure your AirPods are connected via Bluetooth.

  3. Connect your iOS / macOS device to Wi-Fi.

  4. Plug in the AirPods’ charging case to power.

  5. Place the AirPods in the case, close the lid, and keep them in Bluetooth range.

  6. Wait at least 30 minutes for the firmware to install.

  7. Open the charging case lid to reconnect.

  8. Check the firmware version afterward.

There’s no way yet for users to force the update manually; the process happens automatically under the right conditions.
